Dan Beall It's all about the Output
Dan Beall, Product Manager

We've been talking a lot about content management, SharePoint, and single-sourcing, but this issue focuses on another important topic: publishing deliverables in the format you need. Authoring, collaboration, and management technology all exist to help you create better outputs.

With that in mind, we have focused on outputs for the newly released Doc-To-Help 2012. We introduced a reworked NetHelp in the last version and now it's enhanced with better performance, more automation, and a right-to-left theme (see the Hebrew sample). Next, we added an HTML 5-based Mobile Help output that runs on all major devices and browsers (see the video and blog post). Finally, we added Eclipse Help so our friends working in the Eclipse development environment no longer need to create Help manually (see the blog post). Of course, we still offer HTML Help, print, Microsoft Help 2.0, Microsoft Help Viewer, WinHelp, and JavaHelp. The next version will feature a new WYSIWYG theme designer for online outputs, so rest assured that Doc-To-Help has your publishing needs covered.

Doc-To-Help 2012 has a new Mobile Help output that is browser-based, and easy to create.   Ask the Expert

Q: Where can I find the exact path to the Doc-To-Help project I am working on? I have several versions of the same project and I want to make sure I am editing the correct one.
Ask the Expert

A: Open the Project tab in Doc-To-Help and click the dialog box launcher (the tiny arrow on the bottom right) in the Project ribbon group. The path to your project will be listed in the Location field of the Project Settings dialog box. Bonus: if you hover over the name of any document in the Documents Pane, the exact path of that document displays in a popup.

If you have any additional questions on this subject or any others, please email me.

Thanks, Nicky
