Bernardo Castilho   ComponentOne plans for VS11 and Metro
Bernardo Castilho, Chief Technology Officer

We are approaching the release date of VS11. We have been working with Microsoft to make sure all our existing controls will be ready and compatible when VS11 ships. The transition has been very smooth so far.
If you use VS11 to develop web, desktop, or phone applications, then you will be able to continue using the ComponentOne controls exactly as you have been doing. We will continue to maintain them and add features requested by our users.

If you choose to develop the new Windows 8 Metro-style applications, you will need new controls, based on the WinRT Windows APIs. ComponentOne is currently working on new studios based on WinRT and on our award-winning XAML and HTML5 controls. These new controls will not be simple ports of their desktop counterparts. They will leverage the unique features of the new Metro UI, including their appearance and user experience. We will keep you posted as our WinRT controls mature. Stay tuned!
